We relocated a driving simulator equipped with a motion device to the Wakaya Factory of Alps Alpine Co., Ltd., (conducting joint research).
This driving simulator is equipped with a 6-axis motion device that provides realistic feedback to the driver on the vehicle’s movements while driving. By having drivers actually ride in the driving simulator, it is possible to evaluate and analyze their reactions to interventions in driving by systems such as traffic infrastructure, driver assistance, and autonomous driving, at low cost and without having to drive an actual vehicle on public roads.
The evaluation and analysis results obtained from this driving simulator will be applied to the development of next-generation automobiles, particularly in the area of human-machine interfaces (HMI), with the aim of realizing safe and comfortable transportation. In addition, we aim to expand industry-government-academia collaboration by utilizing this simulator not only within Alps Alpine Co., Ltd. but also in joint research with other companies and government agencies.
On June 2, Toshihiro Kuriyama (President) and Tetsuhiro Saeki (Managing Executive Officer) took a test drive in the driving simulator.
