Shigetoshi Sugawa, Research Professor, Tohoku University, has been received the 2025 IISS Pioneering Achievement Award.

 

The IISS Pioneering Achievement Award was established in 2015 by the International Image Sensor Society (IISS) to recognize individuals who have created pioneering fundamental technologies in the field of image sensor technology and have made significant academic and industrial contributions for more than 10 years.

 

Professor Sugawa received the award for his high dynamic range charge overflow pixel technologies. This technology is the image sensor technology that can simultaneously achieve basic performance such as single exposure, linear response, high sensitivity, and high dynamic range, and is currently widely used in various fields of smartphones, digital cameras, security cameras, in-vehicle cameras, scientific and industrial cameras, etc.

 

The award ceremony was held at the 2025 International Image Sensor Workshop, the Grand Nikko Awaji, Hyogo Prefecture from June 2nd (Mon) to 5th (Thu), 2025.
